Change happens. No matter our situation in life there are always moments and passages of change that affect us. Sometimes change comes and hits us over the head like the strong man hammer at the carnival. It totally rings our bell! But, sometimes change quietly sneaks in and softly slides into the vacant seat next to us on the bus. It is so subtle we almost don’t notice it. Yes, change happens in various and different ways for each of us. It can be brought on by outside forces beyond our control, or it can be the result of our own choices and decisions. Down A Different Road

In life, many times we drive down the same roads day after day. We pass the same houses and the same old dog sitting on the porch. The same mailboxes and barns. We become complacent and comfortable with the road. We know the road and we know where it takes us. Then, out of the corner of my eye I see a little road; more of a pathway actually. It intrigues me. It beckons me. What would happen if I turned off my familiar road and took this one instead? Where would it take me? What would I find at the end of that road? This thought repeatedly tantalizes me as I make the ½ hour drive each weekday to take my grandson to school and then back. There is this road; a.k.a dirt pathway. Five Minute Friday: Change

  Change! You can’t escape it. You can’t run from it. There is no place in the world that you can hide that change will not find you. It is as inevitable as the rising of the sun. And yet, even though change is part of everyone’s life, we still face it with sweaty palms and racing heart. Why? Change means that we have to step back and give up control of “us.” And that is as scary as all get out! Change! There is no  better word to use to describe our family in 2014. Every one of us has gone through a major job change this year. For me, it was leaving a job that I loved after fifteen years due to extreme stress in the work environment.
