Five Minute Friday: Whisper

Fitting in time for today’s #FiveminuteFriday. After all, it’s only 5 minutes!! #FMF is a flash mob group of wonderful ladies who take the word of the day and write for five minutes. Today’s word is “whisper”. Whisper Sometimes the most powerful emotions can be expressed in a whisper. Lean closer. Let me tell you something. Just for you. “I love you.” “Please don’t leave me.” “Will you marry me?” “You need Jesus.” “Help.” “I have cancer.” “I am going home now.” And then in the words of our LORD, from 1 Kings 19:9b-13 “Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah and said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He answered, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God almighty. You see, the Israelites has forsaken your covenant, torn down our altars, and killed your...

Five Minute Friday: Reach

Authors note; The word prompt for this week vividly brought back to my mind a place and a time where I was struggling with depression. I know that for me to get through this struggle I needed the love and support of those around me. I would encourage you, that if you have a loved one (friend or family) that struggles with depression…reach out to them. It could save their life. Reach… Can you reach me? Can you touch my hand with yours and pull me out of this darkness? Can you see me? Can you see me here in my deep hole? Wait! Don’t walk away. I know that I haven’t been myself lately, but please don’t go. Can’t you stay for a while and cover me with your light and your love? People around me know there is something wrong but they don’t know what to say. Some people...

Five Minute Friday: Tell

An action word for Five Minute Friday. Tell! Go and TELL Pharoah, Let my people go. Go TELL it on the Mountain…that Jesus Christ is Born. Jesus said, And I TELL you: Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Jesus said, “Return home and TELL the story of what God has done for you.” Most commonly the word tell is found in close association with other action words such as “go” and “come” That means that it isn’t just a sit in my house alone and “tell”…It’s a get out there in the world and tell. Tell of God’s power. Tell of God’s love. Tell the Good News of Jesus Christ. Tell, tell, tell…. In the writing world however; there is a phrase that comes up when we’re working on dialog and character descriptions. Show...

Five Minute Friday: Fill

To fill is to remove the empty from our lives. Sometimes that’s in response to a physical need and sometimes it is totally spiritual. When I think of the word fill, I think back to life on our farm when the kids were growing up. Rachel, fill the chicken feeder. Aaron, be sure and fill the rabbit water bottles. Honey, can you please fill up the pellet stove, it’s going to be cold tonight. For me, I pretty much spent my entire day filling. Filling up the hungry bellies of my family. Filling the washer. Filling the pantry with canned food and staples. Filling the day with things that could not be allowed to be empty. Being empty meant that someone or something will go hungry, or cold, or…heaven forbid…have to wear dirty clothes. But in thinking about the farm and...
